Did they just randomly kill off the dad? Where did that even come from? I feel like I missed something

the author of this series usually showed some hints/flags in some random scenes and then suddenly dropped the plot twist bomb near the climax/important events. it can be very subtle or just a misdirection, and he did that to almost every series he made.

in the previous episodes we know that the dad went missing, he left his phone, we saw some ambulance scenes, some characters hinting that they got a weird feeling, and so on.

It will be explained in a later episode. As for when, I have no idea. This is going off the manga.

Im unfamiliar with the Mix manga. I'm anime original, so this came as a pretty big shock to me. Glad it's going to be explained later. The way it came out of nowhere made me think I missed an episode or 2 somewhere along the way
